Project Sunrise Live Construction Cam

GRAND OPENING OF PROJECT SUNRISE ON
JULY 17, 2008 WILL TRANSFORM MOHEGAN SUN AT POCONO DOWNS

Project Sunrise, the $208 million Phase II gaming and entertainment complex that dramatically transforms Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, is scheduled to open to the public following a grand opening ceremony at 10:00 am, Thursday, July 17, 2008.   The grand opening date is pending approval from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board following a test night scheduled for July 15.

Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs President and Chief Executive Officer, Robert J. Soper says grand opening ceremony will begin at 9:30 am on July 17 prior to public access to the new building and noted that, “Project Sunrise has been designed to celebrate the people, history and natural resources of Northeastern Pennsylvania.”

The announced opening date is two weeks ahead of schedule, with much of that credit due to the outstanding performance of the construction teams, many of which are based in Northeastern, Pennsylvania.

Groundbreaking for the 300,000 square-foot complex, owned and operated by the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority occurred in May 2007.    The new Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, unrivaled in gaming, services and amenities in Northeastern Pennsylvania, will feature 2,500 slot machines and electronic virtual table games, many of which are new to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, Pennsylvania’s first casino, will also be the first property in Pennsylvania to attract a great array of nationally-recognized restaurants, most notably the regional debut of Ruth’s Chris Steak House, a premier name in fine dining.  Rustic Kitchen Bistro and Bar, a unique food and entertainment attraction generating rave reviews in Boston and Hingham, MA, offers an Italian Mediterranean-themed menu and a live television cooking presentation studio.  Bar Louie, a hit restaurant with locations in Pittsburgh, PA. Tampa, FL. and Washington, DC, boasts a menu filled with uniquely prepared appetizers, signature sandwiches and hearty entrees with prices that won’t break the bank and  a stage area for live entertainment.  Pearl Sushi Bar offers a contemporary design and intimate setting. Timbers Buffet offers an almost unlimited presentation of diverse food options for lunch and dinner.  Other eateries include Puck Express by Wolfgang Puck, Johnny Rockets, Ben and Jerry’s, Hot Dog Hall of Fame and a Betty & Joe’s coffee house.

Bar offerings are headlined by the Sunburst Bar, located in the center of the casino.  The place to see and be seen, Sunburst Bar offers the latest in video poker machines at the bar area along with table seating.  Breakers, meanwhile, is a bar that will shake things up, with live bands playing current hit music, stunning bartenders who serve drinks and periodically get up on the bar to dance and large screen televisions for sporting events.

The new facility will also include 7,000 square feet of retail space comprising several renowned shops such as Brookstone, Marshall Rousso women’s couture and men’s fine apparel boutique Misura, along with Crossing Vineyards Wine and Cheese Shop.

The best way to access the amenities at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs is to use the Players Club loyalty card.  Now the most valuable gaming card in the Commonwealth, inserting this card in any slot machine or virtual table games earns points, which are good for reduced pricing or complimentary offers which can be redeemed at every restaurant or retail shop in the new property.
